Design Your Daily Agenda With Confidence
You’ve got a laundry list of to-do’s, appointments, responsibilities and there is no end in sight! Are you feeling overwhelmed or frustrated? You are not alone my dear. If you’ve been listening to the last several episodes, you have reached the point of building your daily agenda to help you feel confident in the structure of your day. I know it’s challenging but we’ve been breaking it down to simplify it for you. We talk all things routines, buckets of time and a handful of tips of how to GAIN time in your day. Sound enticing? Great, press play to design your day and ultimately a lifestyle you desire!
From routines to self-care, there’s a ton on our plate. Through this episode, you can choose how to spend your pockets of time. By building buckets of time, you get to create a life you love.
I break down ways in which to create your agenda:
Grab your favorite paper planner (yes, your girl is old school!) and look at your weekly layout.
Plug in the hours you assigned to your categories last week. For example:
3. Where you see the remaining open time slots, drop in your bite-sized action steps to work
towards your goals (yes, even if it’s just 5 minutes a day - you can still make time!).
4. Feel free to color code and get creative with your planner. This is where you can have fun
and design your day.
In a nutshell, as you craft your ideal day with all the must haves and to-do’s, I hope you’ll see something. I hope you will realize that you can make the most out of your 24 hours by simply being aware of where your time is being spent.
Especially now that you have a better understanding of where your time is being spent (aka, wasteful social media scrolling or any other type of non-goal achieving time waster)! Are you with me? I’m the first to admit that I get lost in the abyss of distraction and then get mad at myself for not making progress.
Instead of just getting frustrated, I give myself grace and remind myself to refocus. Nice and easy.
I say that because we are EXPERTS at piling on the guilt onto ourselves. And our self sabotaging habits and/or words can be really brutal.
I digress….it’s just that I really believe in self-love and being kinder to ourselves, especially right now.
Now, let’s say that you did this exercise and you are shaking your head, saying, “Susie, I tried every which way and have found absolutely ZERO free space to squeeze in my time towards working on my goals!”
I got you. Can I have your permission to give you a bit of tough love?
Revisit your allotted hours of the activities you have. Is it necessary for you to:
Have a weekly 90 minute coffee chat? Can you reduce it to 60 minutes and dedicate 30 minutes to your self growth?
Take a 60 minute lunch daily? What if you spend 30 minutes eating and the other 30 minutes towards your goals?
Sleep 8 1/2 hours each night or could you wake up 10 minutes earlier?
You get my drift, right? Essentially, take an honest hard look at where you are spending your time and find a tiny sliver of time you can dedicate to yourself. Yes, you are worth it, so stop doubting it!
Be honest with yourself, stop making excuses and DO.THE.WORK.
On episode 28, you learned how to write your own permission slip, I think it’s about time you start using it my friend.
You get to choose how you want to design your life the way that you want, it’s just up to you to roll up your sleeves and take the first step.
If you’ve made it through all these lessons and implemented at least one thing from each one, can I tell you how proud of you I am? What a victory! I’m sending you virtual hugs!
If you haven’t learned yet, I like to throw out the rulebook and help you break out of the mold. With that in mind, don’t feel forced to make each of these tips work precisely one way. Use the ones that work for you and if something doesn’t pan out, simply let it go.
We are all built differently and cannot expect for everything to be perfectly laid out. Trust me, coming from a recovering perfectionist, that means a lot! However, you do have to do the work.
There are no shortcuts to success.
I truly hope these tools I’ve been sharing for you to apply to your daily routine help you build momentum and ultimately, growth. As you start to make progress, you are going to gain a new rhythm and a zest for checking off those goals from your roadmap.
Emily Dickinson said,
“If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves. You can gain more control over your life by paying closer attention to the little things.”
This journey we’ve been on together, has been intentional. It’s helping you design a blueprint for the life you want to live. We just have to get a better grip of what direction we want to go in and pay attention to those mile markers as Emily states. Those milestones will be the key to getting results on the areas you’ve defined.
And it’s funny, on a recent webinar I participated in, the speaker shared a staggering statistic.
“You have a 65% chance of meeting your goal if you commit it to someone”
So by simply telling someone that you are working towards _____ (goal) by ______ (date), you increase your odds of fulfilling your goals. Sounds promising.
He went on to say that your chance of success increases to a whopping 95% if you have a regular accountability appointment with someone who you have committed to.
Read that again…..
That’s HUGE! Wouldn’t you want that?
I mean, it’s a pretty clear indicator of why having an accountability partner can be so beneficial. I know that looks different for each of us. What I hope you recognize is that you don’t have to bashfully ask around to random people to hold you accountable. While some friends may have good intentions of helping you, the reality is they are focused on achieving their goals first. Rightfully so.
What does that mean for you? Is there hope? Is there a different way?
That my friend is what I thrive in. Helping you get clear on what direction you want to go, unpacking all your ideas, building and navigating your roadmap to success. We create those mile markers and I keep you accountable. I help you implement and follow through, because sometimes you just need that extra nudge.
As you achieve those milestones, we celebrate your success!
How great would you feel if in the next 3-6 months you could reflect back and see just how far you’ve come?
Nodding your head, yes? Then lets hop on a call to chat about how I can help you. No more feeling stranded alone or confused. It’s time to level up and I would be honored to be your guide through it.
